At the Garden of Skills, the kitchen is currently working at full capacity. Every day, the cook prepares meals for the women attending sewing training, those taking literacy and mathematics classes, as well as for the centre’s permanent staff.
The meals consist of a vegetable sauce made with produce grown in the garden, served with the starch of the day — either rice or pap, the traditional maize meal.
A symbolic contribution is requested from each participant to help cover the cost of the meals. Lunch is also provided to the children welcomed at the crèche, who are the children of the women attending the training programmes.
Through this organisation, the centre strives to provide a supportive and caring learning environment where every woman can train in good conditions.
