At Garden of Skills, major redevelopment work has been carried out with the gardening team to redesign the most remote sections of the vegetable garden.
These areas are being structured into terraces to make them more accessible, more productive and easier to maintain throughout the seasons.
These new growing beds will mainly be used for cabbages intended for the centre’s kitchen, as well as for the most vulnerable patients at the nearby hospital in Piggs Peak.
To enrich the soil sustainably, the team is using the “poquet” technique, which consists of placing organic matter directly at the root level of each plant.
This method helps save natural inputs by positioning them deeply enough at the base of each plant so that they can draw on these nutrients throughout their growth.
