Renewing the soil to prepare for spring planting

Growing plants above ground in containers, especially on a rooftop heavily exposed to the sun, requires regular renewal of the growing substrate.

For safety reasons, the containers are shallow, and the soil quickly becomes depleted as crops succeed one another throughout the seasons.

The children therefore took part in an activity to enrich the containers with a mixture of topsoil and compost, an essential step in restoring the nutrients needed for future planting.

Once the containers are ready, they will be able to welcome new plants and allow the vegetable garden to continue producing throughout the spring and summer seasons.
