Preparation of the cultivation beds in Levi’s Nek Farm greenhouse.

The greenhouse at Levi’s Nek Farm is now up and running! In order to get the greenhouse operational without delay, the young residents set about installing the growing beds inside. To do this, they applied the principle of permaculture and lasagne beds. Trenches 80 cm wide and 30 cm deep are dug and then filled with organic matter, alternating residues from the maize crop, compost, soil and manure, compost, soil and manure. The beds are watered deeply to encourage the plants to decompose.
