Every day, the Roosboom Halfway House welcomes 60 disadvantaged children from the township, offering them not only a warm place to stay after school, but also a hot, balanced meal.
In the kitchen, Lulu and Fisani carefully prepare simple but nutritious dishes: pap — the traditional cornmeal porridge in southern Africa — or rice, always accompanied by a sauce. Thanks to the vegetable garden cultivated on site, these sauces are enriched with fresh vegetables, providing vitamins and dietary diversity for the children. The recent expansion of the garden, whose surface area has been tripled thanks to the support of the Bel Foundation and The Ivory Foundation, has significantly increased the nutritional value of the meals served.
