Seedlings in full growth in Bala’s garden (Senegal)

posted in: Bala Garden, Seedlings

The seedlings prepared by Abdourhamane, the head gardener of the Bala garden, are a success!

The shoots of the different varieties of tomatoes and aubergines have emerged from the plates with a very satisfactory germination rate. As part of the cultivation protocol, regular reporting on the number of successfully germinated seeds and mature plants is recorded in a spreadsheet to assess the viability of the seeds in relation to the local climate. The Bala medical centre in eastern Senegal, near Tambacounda, is one of the pilot sites associated with the project for the production of reproducible seeds in Senegal developed by The Ivory Foundation with the organic seed company Agrosemens, APAF and Kaicedrat.
