The women of the Kambene Kafo community garden, located close to the Dawady health centre, take turns every day to maintain the community vegetable garden beds. Thanks to their constant involvement, the garden remains green all year round.
They currently grow okra, sweet potatoes and millet, local crops that are essential to the daily diet. These crops are used not only to feed families, but also to supply the nearby health centre, particularly as part of the nutritional support programme for pregnant women. A more diverse range of vegetables will take over in a few weeks’ time, as the rainy season comes to an end.
