Distribution of free condoms by Designing Hope in Southern Africa

Designing Hope has commissioned Zimbabwean artisans to produce wire stands designed to hold condom dispensers made available to communities in South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini. At Halfway House Roosboom, the women at the centre have distributed these stands to small shops in the township. Shopkeepers can now easily install the cardboard containers, each holding 240 condoms, and replace them when they are empty. These simple, locally made structures improve the visibility and accessibility of condoms, thereby facilitating their distribution on a daily basis. A practical initiative that helps to strengthen HIV prevention and protection efforts, developed by the Designing Hope association with the support of the AA Ulmann Fund, whilst promoting regional craftsmanship.
