Transplanting cabbages at Halfway House Roosboom, South Africa

As the southern winter approached, the women at Halfway House Roosboom had started cabbage seedlings in their nursery.

The young seedlings are now fully grown. The women are busy transplanting them into the growing beds, both in the greenhouse and outdoors, marking a new stage in the vegetable garden’s production cycle.

In a few months’ time, these crops will yield green vegetables that will be cooked straight away for the children living at Halfway House Roosboom.

Rich in vitamins and minerals, these vegetables will help improve the nutritional quality of the meals served every day.
