To enrich the soil in the various plots cultivated on the farm, the young residents of Levi’s Nek went to collect manure from a nearby sheep and cow farm. At night, the animals are kept in a stone pen close to the farmers’ home, before roaming the neighbouring meadows during the day. It was in this pen that the youngsters dug deep into the soil to recover manure that had already been composted and could be incorporated directly into the soil.
