Production of fresh vegetables for pregnant women in Dawady, Senegal.

posted in: Dawady, garden list

The Dawady health center, adjacent to the Kambere Kafo market garden, regularly welcomes pregnant women for consultations with the midwife.
To encourage them to make these visits, we have set up a system of food parcels, based on the model already tested in Eswatini and Lesotho by Designing Hope and The Ivory Foundation.
When they visit, the women receive a basket of fresh vegetables from the plots managed by Malik and Abdourahmane. The scheme is designed to boost uptake of prenatal consultations, which are often perceived as costly and time-consuming due to the need to travel.
