Installed in 2018 with the support of The Ivory Foundation, the Kambere Kafo market garden in Dawady is welcoming 150 women, each farming 3 plots, supervised by 2 farm managers: Malik and Abdhouramane.
In 2024, a water shortage had a major impact on production. The well was too shallow for the pump to operate optimally, so over-digging was undertaken, temporarily delaying the garden’s operation. Taking advantage of this interruption, the plot was reorganized and redrawn in a grid corresponding to sub-groups of
women.
For the past month, the well has once again been supplying water. However, due to the advanced season, only a bissap crop has been planted. Malik and Abdhouramane are now coordinating the implementation of a diversified production, which will be fully operational after the rainy season (hibernation).
