Preparation of the crop boards

Young people at the Leribe farm in Lesotho have done a lot of work preparing the soil for new spring crops.

In addition to the rounded Mandala, the mounds grid the land in several rectangles to ensure easier circulation in the garden. The rectangles are not too wide to allow the entire area to be reached from the alleys.

This technique of raised mounds allows the soil to be optimally warmed in the spring and prevents water from saturating the soil by running off when it rains heavily.
