In market gardening, there are 2 conventional methods of irrigation:
The spray method, and the drip method.

The spray method:

The advantages of sprinkling are numerous, and this method is used above all when it is desired to wet the whole erea, and in a homogeneous manner.

The sprinkler method is simple to use, and easier to use than the drip method. But it is greedy in water. That said, we can make small waterings throughout the week, so as not to have a soggy soil.

On the other hand, this method is not recommended for watering in the middle of the day, in full sun, because the plants are exposed to the sun and the leaves may burn under the drops of water (magnifying effect).

The drip method:

This method consumes little water, and allows to aim precisely what one wants to water. This also helps not to stimulate the growth of weeds that develop more with the sprinkling method. The soil next to the drip remains dry.

Watering can be done at any time of the day because water is placed on the ground and not on the leaves exposed to the sun.

Drip by drop also helps to keep up with the great droughts, as it’s a tailor-made.watering.

For example, for eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, chillies, sprinkling is useful in early spring, but as early as May and June, drip is more useful, as it helps avoiding mushrooms that like heat and humidity (cryptogamic disease = fungus pathogen for our plants – examples: oidium, mildew).
