Installing the fabric on the Roosboom greenhouse

Once the greenhouse’s wooden poles and metal frame were in place, the sunshade fabric, which had been hand-sewn with a nylon cord, was positioned on the structure. A perimeter trench was then dug all around the greenhouse to bury the fabric and maintain its tension, enabling it to better withstand the wind over time.
The greenhouse has multiple benefits:
protect crops from the particularly hot southern sun, with a screen retaining 40% of the sun’s rays, limit evaporation, protect crops from invasions by crickets and grasshoppers.

A project undertaken by Designing Hope with the support of the Bel Foundation and The Ivory Foundation.
