Installation of an automated watering system in Roosboom, South Africa

At Halfway House Roosboom in South Africa, a new step has been taken to improve water management in the vegetable garden.

Following the installation of an automatic watering system connected to the pumping system set up with the support of the Bel Foundation and The Ivory Foundation, the gardeners have extended this system to all the plots outside the greenhouse.

A network of valves now allows irrigation to be distributed across different areas of the garden, ensuring optimal water flow and better control over watering.

This installation will boost the productivity of the vegetable garden, which provides fresh vegetables every day for the meals of the children at Halfway House Roosboom.

A concrete step towards strengthening the garden’s self-sufficiency and securing its produce, in a context where access to water remains a major challenge.
