Improving seed storage to boost local production

At various seed production sites, including Popenguine, Dawady and the Association Village Pilote, significant work has been undertaken to improve seed storage and monitoring. With support from The Ivory Foundation, suitable resealable bags have been provided to the teams, enabling each batch to be clearly identified: variety, place of production, harvest dates and number of seeds.

In addition, storage boxes have also been distributed to keep these bags in good condition, protected from moisture and rodents, two major factors in seed deterioration.

Beyond the equipment, this initiative aims to establish more rigorous practices in stock management: better organisation, better traceability and better storage to guarantee seed quality over time.

This is a key challenge for the development of robust local supply chains, capable of producing, storing and distributing seeds suited to local conditions.
