Filling of the containers

At La Traversine, new bins have been made to accommodate new plants in the educational garden! To do this, we start by putting a layer of clay balls at the bottom of the galvanized metal tub that we have custom made for our wooden tubs to retain some of the rainwater. We then applied a geotextile to preserve this water reserve with a porous layer, but not letting the earth pass through.

Then we mixed comfrey leaves harvested in the garden, whose leaves are beneficial to the soil, with dead leaves collected in the fall (a mixture of nitrogen and carbon that is conducive to decomposition). Then we covered this layer of biomass with a layer of topsoil. Our bins are now ready for new crops!
