A local health centre, located near the Levi’s Nek farm, has been approached with the aim of developing links with the deaf young residents of the farm. A counsellor from the hospital, currently based at the clinic, will take part in awareness-raising sessions at the farm, particularly on issues relating to sexuality and HIV/AIDS, the latter being a major problem in Lesotho, the country being the second most affected in the world by the pandemic.
A collaboration has also been proposed with the hospital so that the farm can supply food supplements such as fresh vegetables to the HIV-positive patients most affected by the virus, to help boost their immune defences.
