Bulembu biochar

posted in: Biochar

For almost 10 years now, the biochar burner installed by The Ivory Foundation in Bulembu has been working tirelessly to produce this input that helps retain water and nutrients in the soil, while capturing carbon in an environmentally friendly way. Two people are in charge of running the burner every week, using residues from eucalyptus forest production, and the biochar produced is used on the crops grown in Bulembu, as well as being shipped to agricultural projects supported by The Ivory Foundation in southern Africa.
