Storing seeds in new, specially designed bags

To improve seed storage conditions, The Ivory Foundation has designed resealable bags, available in three sizes, which are now being made available to seed production projects supported in West and Southern Africa.

At the Association Village Pilote, Blaise, head of seed production, was among the first to use them to package last year’s harvests. These new containers allow for more rigorous seed management, thanks to a clear identification system: place of production, variety, and dates of harvest and packaging.

A simple yet essential improvement, which facilitates production monitoring and enhances the quality of seed work – something that is often difficult to ensure with inconsistent containers such as jars or unsuitable bags.
