Over the years, the greenhouses set up by The Ivory Foundation have been severely tested by the weather, particularly the strong winds and heavy rains of the rainy season.
The first step involved reinforcing the metal frames, which are now more resistant to strong winds.
However, the insect-proof netting, exposed to high temperatures during the dry season and harsh conditions during the rainy season, remains a weak point. Significant tears have been observed at several sites.
To address this, The Ivory Foundation has supplied each project with 300 metres of Deltane thread, a particularly strong nylon. Stretched along the vertical posts, particularly on the most exposed sides, this system supports the fabric and limits damage in the event of strong winds.
A simple and effective solution to improve the durability of the greenhouses and safeguard seed production.
