In addition to growing crops in greenhouses, the women in the garden were also able to plant spinach seedlings on all of the newly developed outdoor plots around Halfway House, with support from the Bel Foundation and The Ivory Foundation. These additional areas increase production capacity and ensure a regular supply of fresh vegetables.
Thanks to this expansion of the land, future spinach harvests will further support the Halfway House kitchen and also help to enrich the meals served in the canteen of the neighbouring Buhlebezwe Primary School.
