The women in charge of the beds in the Garden of Skills put into practice the well-known advice of gardeners: “One hoeing is worth two waterings”. By loosening the upper crust of the soil, the water is able to penetrate better and reach the roots of the vegetables grown on the beds. Evaporation is also reduced, so water consumption is completely optimised.
Hoeing also eliminates weeds at a young stage, when they are easy to pull up.
