In Rufisque, the children at Handiscole look after the garden

At the inclusive Handiscole school in Rufisque (Senegal), the educational garden set up by Designing Hope has become a place of discovery and learning for the pupils. Every week, the children help to water the planters made from recycled materials. Accompanied by their teachers and by Joseph, who has been maintaining and overseeing the garden for four years, they learn to look after the plants and observe their growth. For the teaching staff, this garden represents much more than just an outdoor activity: it is also an opportunity for some children to discover gardening, and perhaps to find a potential career path for the future.
