In Dawady, seed production is taking root!

In Dawady, the farm set up in 2018 by The Ivory Foundation, near the health centre, combines two complementary areas: a shared garden open to nearly 150 women in this small, very isolated town in eastern Senegal, and a garden intended to provide vegetables to pregnant women receiving care at the health centre.

This year, in this second garden, Abdourahmane and Malik, the two crop managers, have succeeded in sowing all the plots with seeds from their own greenhouse seed production.

This is a very encouraging result for the local seed production project, developed with the support of the Marie-Pierre Crosnier Mangeat Foundation. It is an important step towards greater autonomy for gardens and local communities.
