Boulèl is one of four villages within a 20 km radius of Dawady that The Ivory Foundation has selected to support the establishment or reinforcement of a market garden. These extremely isolated villages are sorely lacking in fresh fruit and vegetables, especially during the dry season. To remedy this situation, the village of Boulèl received rolls of wire mesh, angle iron posts, wire, a metal gate, watering cans and cement to create a market garden perimeter. Malik and Abdhouramane, Dawady’s cultural managers, will be helping the Boulèl women’s group to install the fence in the next few days, and will also assist them in setting up the planting beds.
