Bulheweze School, Roosboom – South Africa

This month, Bulheweze School in Roosboom received a donation of freshly harvested vegetables from the Halfway House’s vegetable garden. This initiative illustrates the remarkable progress made since
the garden was expanded and a borehole equipped with a drip irrigation system was installed, which now ensures regular and water-efficient watering.
Thanks to these improvements, funded with the support of the Bel Foundation and The Ivory Foundation, the vegetable garden’s yields have increased significantly, not only ensuring balanced meals every
day for the children at the Halfway House, but also allowing part of the harvest to be shared with the neighbouring community. Beyond food aid, this initiative strengthens the bonds of solidarity
between the centre and the school, while highlighting the lasting
impact of a well-managed garden on local food security and community cohesion.
