This week, children from Bercy Primary School took part in a sowing workshop in the educational garden at La Traversine Bercy.
Under the guidance of the Designing Hope team, the children began by preparing the substrate: a mixture of sifted soil and compost, carefully stirred to obtain a light and homogeneous texture. They then filled the seed trays, gently pressing down the soil before making a small indentation with their fingertips – just the right depth to accommodate the seeds.
For this workshop, they sowed Swiss chard seeds, a leafy vegetable perfectly suited to the season and highly prized in urban vegetable gardens for its rapid growth and beautiful colours.
