At the educational farm run by the St Paul’s School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, the six young people currently in training with their tutor Tsephane, monitor the crops on a daily basis.
In addition to the 200 m² cultivated under glass, they are also responsible for several large plots in the open field, which produce a wide variety of fresh vegetables. These crops are then processed in the school canteen, helping to prepare meals for the 200 schoolchildren every day.
As well as agricultural production, this collective work is a real training tool, promoting autonomy, the transmission of agricultural know-how and the professional inclusion of young deaf and hard-of-hearing people, while strengthening the school’s food security.
