The garden to be installed in 2021 by Designing Hope on the roof terrace of the Petits Princes school in Rufisque has undergone several structural changes this year.
The school’s canteen has been moved to one of the two roof terraces where the garden is located, involving the relocation of several growing trays.
However, the second terrace has been enlarged to accommodate new buildings on the first floor, providing an additional 16 m² on the first floor, with the cultivated area remaining unchanged. Better management of the space will even allow the addition of several more growing trays.
The work on the canteen, carried out with the support of Designing Hope and Marie Munoz, now provides a work space suited to the professionalization of children with disabilities. Anna Gueye, the school’s headmistress, is keen to integrate cooking and gardening into her vocational training program for the young people in her care.
