Maintenance of corn

posted in: St Monica

The youngs running the St Monica’s farm have maintained the cornfields today. Corn is an important crop in Southern Africa because it is used as semolina for daily food. We try to combine corn with cucurbits and beans, because corn alone is very water-intensive and impoverishes the soil.

The association of these three plants, called “milpa”, promotes better water management and ensures an important production on a minimum of space.
