Today, children from the Bercy school took part in a leek planting activity at the Traversine garden, supervised by animators from the Designing Hope association.
Before getting started, the organizers explained the essential steps for ensuring good leek growth: cutting off the leaves, shortening the roots and, above all, burying the leeks deep enough.
This last step is crucial, as it allows the white stem, the most prized part of the leek, to develop properly.
The children then planted the leeks in association with other vegetables in the trays, encouraging biodiversity and mutual assistance between plants.
After watering their plantations, they realized the importance of regular maintenance to ensure optimal growth.
This activity reinforced their understanding of growing techniques and their commitment to the garden.
In this way, the Traversine Bercy garden becomes a practical learning and sharing space for young gardeners.
