Drilling at Roosboom’s Halfway House

A great day at Halfway House!

Thanks to the support of the Bel Foundation and The Ivory Foundation, a borehole has been drilled on the grounds of Halfway House in Roosboom.

This is part of the plan to improve the productivity of the vegetable garden, in order to produce more vegetables on a more regular basis and in greater quantities to supply the canteen of the center and the
neighboring Bulhebezwe school.

Roosboom’s public water network is very poorly maintained, with multiple leaks on a degraded network creating
frequent shortages sometimes lasting several days, which can have devastating effects on the upkeep of the vegetable garden.

The work turned out to be more extensive than expected, and it was necessary to drill up to 170 m to find water. The doubling of the garden’s surface area thanks to a donation from the town council, combined with this regular water supply, will help to secure future harvests.
