This spring, children from the Paris Anim’ Annie Fratellini center took part in a permaculture gardening activity organized by the Designing Hope association in the Traversine Villiot garden.
Children experimented with vertical gardening by taking over the bamboo teepee in the Traversine Villiot shared garden.
First, the soil around the structure was carefully loosened and enriched with a mixture of compost and potting soil.
Then, at the foot of the bamboos, each child planted a butternut or pumpkin, alternating between the two, to encourage diversity. All that remained was to observe, water… and wait.
Soon, the long stems of the cucurbits will climb up the tepee, transforming the structure into a living, playful and educational space.
A wonderful introduction to the principles of permaculture and the magic of urban gardening!
