The young deaf and dumb farmers were trained in metalwork. They were able to make the 12 bed frames for their dormitory, as well as the tables and shelves needed to fit out the farm. This skill is an asset that will make them more independent in the upkeep of the site and enable them to make everything they might need themselves.
