Sandiara is an agroforestry market garden created in 2023 by APAF. The Ivory Foundation supported the implementation of this project by financing the installation of a greenhouse dedicated to seed production, in partnership with the Marie-Pierre Crosnier Mangeat Foundation.
This project has one key objective: to produce local seeds over several generations in order to strengthen producers’ autonomy and crop resilience.
At the end of the rainy season in October, Nicolas, an APAF technician and plot manager, planted the seeds provided by The Ivory Foundation.
Today, the 200 m² greenhouse is home to plants of several species, with only one variety per crop to avoid cross-pollination: lettuce, aubergines, cucumbers, courgettes and tomatoes share this production space.
